As of 2021, the global energy capacity of solar, wind, and hydropower is as follows:
- Solar: According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the global solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity reached 773 GW in 2020, up from 591 GW in 2019. In terms of solar thermal energy, the capacity is estimated to be around 5 GW.
- Wind: The global wind energy capacity was 743 GW in 2020, up from 644 GW in 2019, according to the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC).
- Hydropower: The global hydropower capacity was 1,308 GW in 2020, according to the International Hydropower Association (IHA).
